A crown, sometimes referred to as a cap, is a permanent covering that fits completely over an original tooth that has been damaged, decayed, or broken. A crown not only strengthens a tooth, but it can also improve a tooth’s appearance, shape and alignment. Crowns are made of a variety of different materials including porcelain, gold, and resin. The process to make a crown usually requires 2 visits over a 2-3 week period. Once the crown is completed proper brushing, flossing and dental check ups can make the crown possibly last a lifetime.
