TMJ Treatments
TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Pain and problems in this joint may be caused by the misalignment of the teeth, missing teeth, trauma, and muscle tension. Symptoms of TMJ problems can include headaches, earaches, clicking and popping of the jaw, pain in the jaw muscles and joint, trouble opening and closing the mouth, and soreness sometimes extending to the face and neck.
Treatments for this condition can include replacing missing teeth, adjusting the bite or making a plastic night guard to prevent clenching and grinding. Extreme cases may need to be referred to a specialist.
